1994 - chicago producer rick lenoir has already released a slew of legendary records under many well known aliases and his house jam label has been in business since 87. the sanctuary project is the nom de plume utilised by rick for this particular killer disco infected 4 track ep from that period. the keen eared among you will no doubt recognise some of the sample sources used throughout these tracks, lenoir flips jazzy loops, chopped up vocals and lays it all out over some kicking drum programming, this is that style of sample based house that has the hardened dance heads and hip-hoppers unified, gritty, raw and brimming over with soul! the cuts featured on this ep will sit nicely with most contemporary sounds and shows how on the money rick was in the mid 90 s! the record has long been out of print and has been forever popular with the diggers out there, commanding a healthy price when available in the second hand stores and online. this reissue has been realised with the full involvement of rick lenoir / house jam records, chicago and is 100% legit! don t snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting house heads record bag or dj set, classic material made available again for 2017 - running it’!

love tool presents a dreamy opening to the ep, with its effervescent piano riff and lush layers of filters and reverberations, which swell and deflate throughout. bouyant yet gentle, convertible on the m1 is a sunny, textured groove with digital flutes and claps, softly ascending through to a blissful breakdown. on the flip side, underachieving koala juxtaposes eerie vocal samples with melancholy piano chords, making for a poignant cut on the record. untzz twelve inch mainstay arthur miles takes the track in a more club-worthy direction on the remix, giving it a healthy dose of drive and glistening keys, all while staying true to the emotive mood of the original.

both roberto and his own fossil archive label continue to go from strength to strength. roberto has consistently delivered at dj bookings that have seen him return time and again to the likes of tresor and fabric, while the label has fast become a favourite in dj boxes and amongst techno heads. the label closed 2016 on a high with its first set of remixes from two techno legends, sterac and rolando. and now for the first release of 2017 roberto is thrilled to draft in the refined skills of fachwerk’s roman lindau. roberto has of course released on fachwerk in the past and been featured on the bill on more than one occasion when the berlin label have taken over berghain, so roman is a fitting and very welcome addition to his uk imprint. teaming up for ‘nerinea trinodosa’ on the a-side, roman and roberto’s production styles complement one another perfectly on this solid peak-time offering, bringing a depth and power that continues the fossil archive dedication to raw and unfaltering beats. roberto then goes it alone for ‘triage’ on the b-side, a track which was already featured on alan fitzpatrick’s recent fabric mix cd. with its tough tribal sound and deep bass, there’s some serious funk in the groove, completing another essential release from the fossil archive camp.

both camelia and the sports label step into the light for the first time with an ambitious double-pack release that promises much for the future. praxis is a stunning ambient piece that opens the record with glacial drones and subtle ripples of percussive sound before syntax locks things down to a crisp minimal house groove laced with eerie atmospherics. mihai poi meanwhile goes to town on a long form remix on the b side, turning syntax into a warm and playful thing. camelia does her own lengthy turn with the title track on side c, and then sublee drops a snappy electro version as the finishing move on side d.

for this remastered vinyl edition, a key part of arthur’s musical life has been restored. the sparkling, multidimensional results take the listener closer to arthur’s coast-to-coast journey: his iconoclastic determination to combine pop and art music, and his desire to make music that would resonate in the present and, ultimately, across time.

toy tonics mushroom house series brings together different shades of afro-weirdo-psychedelic vibes in dance music. all tracks have been made exclusively for toy tonics. the musical range is wide: the third ep goes from arabic guitars to nubian chants and looots of percussions. the bass drum is four-on-the-floor, but switches from midtempo (kiwi: we are here) to classic new york lofi disco grooves (ponty mython) the other 2 tracks on the ep feature an emptier vibe: less toms more drum machines. more techno. red axes deliever probably one of their weirdest works. their munk rework is pure craziness. the melodies come from another space. the last track on the ep is made by old toy tonics friends from milano: the barking dogs. they teamed up with tom trago in the basement studio of the great record store they run in milan: serendeepity records. they are known for selling obscure, but classy music for dance floors and thats what they do when the make music on their own. like on your high: an obscure groove meets a sloppy bassline and stoned vocals.

after an amazing 2016 year remixing legend mobys porcelain for drumcode, releasing on labels like soma, drumcode (with his phoenix as well), kaputt ltd, planet rhythm, tip top, label owner luca agnelli is back on his own etruria beat. this new release contains 2 original cuts and 2 remixes by amazing artists abstract division and yotam avni. original tracks metamorphosis and chaos are very powerful techno tunes, filled with hypnotic looped chords, melodic synth stabs on solid beats and drops. dynamic reflections owner abstract division revisited metamorphosis in a very mental trippy way, adding a dutch raw and dark touch to the title. after a few releases on innervisions, stroboscopic artefact, yotam avni transformed metamorphosis into a pumping groovy track that can destroy any dancefloor. play it loud!

the young roman artist emiliano morini, hidden in the shadows, reaches his individual project second goal. after debuting with his first ep in the electronic music scene, which also included a collaboration with ed frimann (an already known character of the roman scene) emiliano shows increased maturity through this refined and elegant work. a not necessarily dancefloor oriented straight cash, combined by extremely pleasent sounds, makes his last ep also usable for a home listening session. the ep consists in 4 tracks, each one clearly mirror of a sensitive and deep soul: -deep fusion- is a high tension piece with a submerged but impetuous roaring bassline. -ocean- that could be almost called a jazz track, full of human presence because of a seem live played ride and a lead that sounds like the result of improvisation. on the b side, we find instead a slightly more -club- dimension, without anyhow the loss of musicality. -techno mod- is a tribute to the best acid techno surrounded by an amniotic sea of pads. -vinyl track 2a- portically closes the work with loads of hypnosis and melancholy sounds enclosed in the same box.

a1: solar reaction - asc is known for off the wall deep atmospheric music with a darker more menacing side to it, solar reaction encapsulates this to perfection. the usual asc trademark of quality is here in abundance, with intricate beats, as one would expect, accompanied with a mysterious dark atmosphere that evolves into something with a warm and more welcoming feeling. haunting chords and electrical static pulse sounds hypnotize and seduce the listener into a trance like state. the deeper drifty synth sounds drop with a friendly embrace on the ears and make you yearn for more. solar avoidance is a track of contrast is executed to great effect.
